In late January, the UK Parliament's International Development Committee released their report on UK aid impact on sexual and reproductive health. One of the report’s key recommendations was for the integration of and care for people affected by female genital schistosomiasis – a little known but painful and debilitating disease affecting millions of women - into broader sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programming.

Monitoring and evaluation surveys are one of the main tools ministries of health (MoH) use to assess the quality and impact of treatment programmes against parasitic worms. We support MoH with the planning, delivery, and analysis of these surveys, providing critical information to enable programmes to ensure treatment for every person in need.

The She is Seen campaign supports women at risk of female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) in Côte d’Ivoire to receive the preventive treatment and health education they need. The campaign will help provide services for up to 140,600 women over two years and enable the future roll-out of FGS services across the whole of Côte d’Ivoire.

Salvatory noticed blood in his urine and had become too tired to focus during lessons. He didn’t know it at the time, but he was experiencing schistosomiasis infection. Unlimit Health works closely with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health to treat children like Salvatory, so their health is not limited by parasitic disease.
